The Ultimate Member plugin for WordPress contains a capability check vulnerability in its image resizing functions that allows authenticated users with subscriber privileges or higher to modify profile pictures belonging to other users. The flaw exists in the wp_ajax_um_resize_image() and ajax_resize_image() functions across versions up to 2.8.9, where proper permission validation is absent. An attacker with basic subscriber access could exploit this to unauthorized alter another user's profile image. The vulnerability is resolved in version 2.9.0 and later.
