The Ultimate Social Media Icons plugin contained a cross-site scripting vulnerability that allowed attackers to inject malicious scripts into websites, potentially enabling them to execute redirects, inject advertisements, or deploy other HTML-based attacks that would run when visitors accessed the affected site. This flaw was present in versions before 2.8.4 and has been resolved in that version and later.
