CVE-2023-3179

The POST SMTP Mailer plugin for WordPress through version 2.5.6 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in the resend_email() function due to insufficient nonce verification. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this flaw by deceiving a user with manage_postman_smtp capability into clicking a malicious link, allowing the attacker to resend emails to arbitrary addresses. This vulnerability could be weaponized to resend password reset messages to an attacker-controlled email address, potentially leading to unauthorized access of administrator accounts. The issue was fixed in version 2.5.7.
